A dark, rolling, driving, pulsating, plummeting rhythm takes you deep into a late 80s timewarp while mysterious ethereal whispers seduce you to stay…

City life. 1989. The sun just went down and you find yourself driving down the cold chromatic city streets. Prowling the desolate dusk-filled avenues emerges a dark decadent vampire-disco vortex. Beaming shards of acidic laser synth-stabs erupt out of analog 303s & 808s and embed themselves into the crevices your cerebellum summoning the memory banks of 1989. Indescribable feelings of nostalgia overtake you and physiologically manifest as goosebumps on your forearms and neck.

Crystalized android gems Azari & III emerge from the time capsule, 303s in hand, emitting cerebral surges of sound in the form of kaleidoscopic avant acid artistry. After looking into the timeless prism of the past, these wistful revivalists mold the sound of the future.
Azari & III exhibit a deep-seated understanding of the oneness that binds 1990 to its baby brother 2010 by brewing mercurial masterpieces of digital meets analog. Their ability to reinterpret acid while nurturing nostalgia with an innovative new school flair causes even the most musically masterminded tastemaker, John Maclean himself, to tweet about how awesome they are.

Amidst a sea of blogs and musical downloads at one's fingertips- in an age where the extent of someone "listening" to a song consists of clicking to 4-6 random spots on an itunes playbar, we often lose sight of quality music. Azari & III will quench your hunger for quality with songs such as “Hungry for the Power”, a jam that eloquently demonstrates their knowledge of the genre without being clouded by the overwhelming decisions of which ableton VST preset to choose. The video for “Hungry for the Power was described as “one of the finest videos anyone could have hoped to see this year, re-imagining the jackhammering narrative to American Psycho as a Paris is Burning inspired gorefest, where shade is deadly and men in sharp suits always get their comeuppance.” -- 20JazzFunkGreats

They will bring the sheer love and passion to revive forgotten acid classics to the dancefloor via: Trax Records, Frankie Knuckles, Jamie Principle, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, Phuture, and many more.

The ghost of Chicago acid house will continue to jack the city streets.
It’s next stop: Mezzanine San Francisco, Friday April 9, 2010.

Check It: BROKEN BELLS

Mega Producer Brian Burton better known as Danger Mouse is at it again and this time he's working with indie pop frontman James Mercer of the Shins. Danger Mouse is half of the majorly successful Gnarles Barkley ft. CeeLo and hip hop monster project Danger Doom with M.F. Doom. Mercer was supposed to release a solo album after wrapping the last Shins album when Danger mouse was looking to work on a new project.

It worked out well because the collaboration has received rave reviews, and now we have March 9th 2010 to look forward to for the release of Broken Bells. Itunes released the first single "The High Road" as its free weekly download (available until the 16th of February).Add Image

Stranger than GAGA?

The Knife released a new collaboration with Mt. Sims and Planingtorock this week. Karin Dreijer (the Knife) made headlines last week when she won a major award at the p3 Guld ceremony in Sweden. In typical fashions, Fever Ray sported a head covering that revealed her face was melting off. It gets weirder, instead of a traditional acceptance speech, Fever Ray murmered some frightening words of inspiration. Fever Ray (Karin Dreijer's solo project) is on this years Coachella bill and shes worth checking out and not to be missed live. Check out the video to get the complete story.

In Memoriam: Gerhardt "Jerry" Fuchs

It is with profound and acute sadness that we bid farewell to Jerry Fuchs, masterful drummer and loyal friend to many. Having earned admiration for his dexterous digits drumming for such bands as The Juan MacLean, !!!, Maserati, Holy Ghost!, LCD Soundsystem, Turing Machine, and the Martians, Jerry touched the lives of many people, not only with his musical prowess, but also thanks to his disarming authenticity and irresistibly fun-loving nature. A force of nature unto himself, he shall be sorely missed.

Due to this overwhelming tragedy, The Juan MacLean will NOT be performing as a band on November 20th as scheduled; however, the band's founder and frontman, Juan MacLean, will be appearing for an exclusive tribute DJ set to commemorate and honour the memory of his dear friend and bandmate. All proceeds will be donated to Jerry's family.

Further details regarding the benefit party will be released this week - please visit Going.com for the latest updates.

In the meantime, we send our sincerest condolences to Jerry's family, friends, loved ones, bandmates, and to the entire DFA crew. We only wish we could do more to console...to provide solace in some tangible form...

With heavy-hearts, we share a recent remix of The Juan MacLean's hit, "Happy House":

And a mere few highlights from his exhilarating performances...
